Who says you can’t correctly predict the future? Aldous Huxley and George Orwell did. Hear Neil Postman:

What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumble-puppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny “failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.” In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us.

I need, two views of human nature presented by Huxley and two views of human nature presented by Orwell. Thanks, I need this asap! Social Homework! I wish I was good at social..there so little resources out there on the internet.. Thanks for helping me.

Sorry, the only homework people here do is their own. If you're more specific about what's blocking you from getting started, someone may help jog you (though your professor might have been a better first resource). There is good advice to be found here.

I have written a response on your other, identical post. I will proceed to copy and paste as you have done. :)

Thus:

You don't need somebody to tell you what to do, and you don't need to look it up on the Internet. Nobody wants to do the homework for you, we want you to learn. :)

It does sound like your assignment is easily confusing, so I'll try to help clarify it so you can see how easy and fun this can be.

You're failing to grasp the intention of the assignment. You need to show two views of human nature. You could have a room of 3 people, and they could come up with 20 different views here.

You just need to practice some divergent thinking. I don't want to give you the assignment, but as an example, Greed is a common enough view of human nature. Lots of people think that it's simply natural for humans to be greedy.

That's not necessarily shown in Brave New World or 1984, however.

Read the books, and try to see, for yourself, what views of human nature there could be there. It's not difficult, and it can be a lot of fun.

These authors are showing a futuristic view of society based off of what they believe are the many aspects of human nature, for good or ill.

BookBeauty, you really need to stop responding to these students with help, because it's only going to make more students come here. I think one student stumbles on to this site, tells his classmates, and we are inundated with requests for homework help, as we have been these past few days. I know you're not giving them much, but I don't think you should give them anything, unless they really want to bounce ideas of off us. So far, and in this case literally, they're just saying, "Do my homework, please."

They really should ask the teacher to make it clear for them, but they don't generally think of that. It is shameful to ask for help from the teacher directly. Intimidating, even.

I mean, look at the quote the teacher gave the poor kid. All they needed to say was: ''Human nature''. Sifting through that should be the assignment, because what they're actually asked to do is quite easy.

I digress. I will continue to attempt to offer aid to those who ask it, without giving outright answers, until an admin tells me that it's not okay to do that. :)

-_- ... The teacher does not help because this is a graded assignment. So, I know that Orwell is individualist and Huxley is collectivist? How do I continue? I did not expect you guys to write essays for me. I just needed them in point form each. I dont see anything much in the paragraph except for collectivism and individualism which we are doing?
