I recently re-read this wonderful little story, and felt like starting a thread about it.

It is about a British judge sent to quell the unrest in a town of India. Soon enough the judge becomes obviously a tyrant, making rotten deals with some, and punishing others for little wrong-doing. In the end he disappears, and rumors have it that the people have plotted against him and abducted him...

It seems like a pretty straightforward story, for a Borges tale anyway. So i am wondering if i missed some hidden meaning. So if you feel like it you can discuss the story with me :)

It is found in the collection titled Aleph. A collection which contains some more of my favorite works by Borges, such as the house of Asterios...
