Lana Del Rey sucks so hard it boggles my mind as to why she has become so popular. She's horrible. She's a scourge upon culture, like so many others. Plus, she's even worse live. She's just absolutely, positively horrible.

I didn't bother listening to the other two songs, as I figured if you like Del Rey, it would be better not to risk subjecting my ears to more pain.

Her voice is not bad at all.

And she is 500x more talented and creative and original than Lady Gaga/Justin Bieber/KEsha/Rihanna etc but not 1/5th as popular as any of them.

She is a breath of fresh air for mainstream music. (not that I listen to it)

I disagree. I prefer her singing to all the girls trying to belt out songs and adding a bunch of extracurricular jibber jabber and fluctuations to the melody of the song. She has a unique voice and she has good pitch.

She's quite crap. Like Nico trying to sing bubble gum pop. I honestly don't know why people still listen to comtemporary music, every new artist is just bad pastiche of their idols. There have een a handful a talented musicians in the last 10 years and Lana del rey isn't one of them.

How much of your opinion of her is based on her SNL performance? She choked under pressure almost as badly as Lee Evans and Billy Cundiff of the Baltimore Ravens did last Sunday.

If you listen to her album, she has quite a thing going. Her voice is very unique and oddly nuanced. She has great pitch too. Her lyrics might not be the best, but she actually tries and has her moments. Her lyrics are easily far superior to anything Lady Gaga has ever written. (not that Lady Gaga is a benchmark, just simply saying that Del Rey is the last popular artist to be hating on right now)

I'm not trying to say your opinion is wrong, but I suspect you might have had a terrible first impression of her that is clouding your perspective a bit. Maybe not. But it seems that way because you talk like her voice is objectively bad when I actually consider it objectively at least competent.


Also it seems like half the criticism of her stems from the fact she is from a wealthy family. Who cares?
