Hey guys I have a quick question,

Right now I am a College student and I am in the middle of writing a memoir. I've told my friends about the book I'm writing trying to explain it as not a look at the past, but a journey through the present to discover something I'm searching for. Most are interested, but a few have question me, asking me isn't it too early to be writing a memoir? So I'm curious, if not now, when?

While there's no definite answer, what you are writing does not sound like a memoir.

What I'm trying to say is that I thought a memoir is kind of taking a look back on the recollections of your past. This is what I'm doing, yet I also talk about the present and the future equally. If it's not a memoir, what is it?

"Meditations" if you fancy yourself the equal of Marcus Aurelius. "A Commonplace Book" if you are more modest.

Whatever you call it, you should do it, if you aspire to be a writer. The sooner you start writing the better. Getting into the habit of writing something regularly is probably essential if you are going to take it seriously.

Those who suggest that it is too early may be making a valid point. It's not too early for you to be setting down your own thoughts and opinions, in fact that could be a good way for you to sort them out. It is. however, probably too early for the world at large to care very much what your thoughts and opinions might be. Unless you have a friend or two who want to do the same thing and compare notes then don't expect much sympathy from anyone else.

I understand. I guess the best route is just to keep writing what I've been working on, and when it's time, it's time.
