Icons on a PC screen
give hope where none exists.
From blistering yellow suns
to black clouds with lightning.
The forecast changes by the hour
and as the week passes,
that elusive storm moves
in and out of our lives
taunting, teasing
watching us all
melt like dollops of icecream
on the pavement.
God when will f ucking mankind
ever get it right?
As if the weather were
some exotic butterfly,
it evades understanding
and dies within a day.
Me? I wanna be blown about
like a tumbleweed
down an empty street,
whipped with razor sharp rain
till nothing else on Earth matters.
I'm searching for a signal,
a sign the wrathful storm will come.
Where is that one single cloud?
The crystal ball of technology has cracked
so Lord I'm begging you,
No more sapphire blue skies.

Good one Delta! Your words effectually capture your feelings. The unreliable weather forecasts are so annoying especially if you have a plan for the weekend. I like the way your anger blazes forth in these lines-

"Me? I wanna be blown about
like a tumbleweed
down an empty street,
whipped with razor sharp rain
till nothing else on Earth matters."

Weather blues!

Thanks AG. The storm finally came and offered some light relief but once it passed, it was like it never happened...sigh!

I went through that business a few weeks ago Delta. Also I received my electric bill and got to see graphicly how much juice my airconditioner was sucking*

There was one incredible storm followed by three days of Very Cool Indeed - nice.

This captures the period before quite well, without the seeming relentless hour by hour watch as the temp climbs, and then the countdown for when it's finally cool enough to go and sit in the shade.

* I bought a second fan and cobbled together a bucket-thin towel-clotheshorse arrangement to perform the same function at a fraction of the price and noise.

What a nice enviroment friendly idea MM. It's how the heat keeps me indoors more than anything else though. Anyway, glad you liked the poem. Am going to the beach this morning before it gets too hot

Hi Delta!

I liked your poem....it is a shame we can not combine our weathers....cold here and snow expected but like you say
"God when will f ucking mankind
ever get it right?
As if the weather were
some exotic butterfly,
it evades understanding
and dies within a day."

snow tonight and then a wintery mix ~ reckon I'll be staying in but I'd rather be on the beach.

Bit late to the party for this one Delta, but it is highly effective in communicating its intent. I doo rather think the expletive is superfluous though. Apart from that, a very piquant piece.

Live and be well - H

Yeah I uhmed over the expletive Hawk. This is really monotone when I would have liked it to contain a ticking bomb (the endless heat), an explosion (the expletive) then a rush of words (like rain) but it didn't come out that way

Thanks for your reviews.
