As a fresheman majoring in English in Shanghai, i should say the book is just amazing. English being a foreigh language to me, i do find some of Dicken's vocabulary a little bit sophisticated, even archaic, yet some characters are so gorgeously written i can't help memorising them spontaneously. Enough has been said about Dicken's masterful writing styles and structruring, i just want to say the reading of the book is the experiencing of another life.
By finishing the last page i wept, actually, i cried. Carton is so much like another character in acient Chinese myth, a secular man with secular desires and emotions, yet being no less sacred than the Saviour himself.
