Greetings, I haven't posted on here for a long while so this shall be my return thread. Any way, I've been going through some of my shorter novels (the last two I read were The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley) and am currently reading the novel in my thread title. During my high school years I read The Scarlet Letter, however; that was probably around fifteen years ago so it has been a fairly long time. I love The Marble Faun although I must admit that my limited knowledge regarding Italian art has made it a bit difficult. Any way, my question to any one who has any interest in such things is if there is a good reference guide that may catch me up to speed a bit in such matters? I've done some Google searches which have helped quite a lot but I'd be interested in a good non-fiction work regarding in particular the statues and architecture of ancient Italy and Rome in particular. Any help is very much appreciated.
