I would call it a puzzle.
Teasing with wordplay,
so cryptic and obscure.
Bewildering clues with hidden meanings
set in enduring patterns of symmetry
which mankind so loves.
The Times will never change,they say.
A cross word is a rule breaker
and since I am the answer for yesterdays news,
it's not acceptable in this game.
Yet still we look both ways.
Up and down, even on a one way street.
Just in case we get it wrong.

Minding your Ps and Qs, Delta? I'm not sure that: "enduring patterns of symmetry" fits particularly well with the corssword analogy, as they are seldom symetrical but certainly the human brain processes it's perception of the world through pattern recognition. Any reason why you said, "I be" rather than "I am"?

I think the way you transition into the deptiction of a relationship is wonderfully subtle. On the whole a winner in my book.
