I have loved you, served you
like Laura Bell with no fee
and all the extras thrown in.
There was a time when I hoped,
nay, expected a return from you.
Bundles of happiness.
Your vows honoured through
the fiercest of storms.
As days merged into years,
I poured out my tears
like a suffragette on the warpath
marching down the street
picketing for her rights,
but all to no avail.
I transformed into Typhoid Mary
ready to hawk up all the phlegm
of our one score union
into your bowl of vegetable soup.
And for every cup of coffee
you roared for me to brew?
I prayed you might listen to me then.

Yum! :)

I'll have to goggle Laura Bell, and I'll get back here Delta. I like the bitter-sweetness of it, though a little light on the sweet maybe...

Me too had to wiki Laura Bell. From a beauty to Typhoid Mary. Amazingly vivid and extreme way to say what marriage can do to us, if I read it correctly. Kudos to the domestic diva.

Thanks. Haunted, you have a way of reading most works correctly.

Our choices live and make us change over time. I liked this piece a lot because it is a recurring theme of yours from different angles. This is one of your best.

Thanks Cafolini. I've just edited it a wee bit. Merry Christmas.
