Here is a poem by Par Lagerkvist that I felt like sharing.
The nobel prize laureate in 1951, Lagerkvist wrote some of the most tender, humble and penetrating poetry that I have had the good fortune to read.
Here is a short poem from his poetry collection "Aftonland".I hope that my translation does justice to the original.
You Milky Way over the soul's loneliness,
you eternal longing.
Burn, burn long after me,
long after that I will not be,
I that never got to climb your bridge.
Burn for the people that will come wandering some time through spaces,
who will wander safely over the abyss on a bridge of stars.
