Hi.

Hello there. Its nice to see you again. Your hair looks lovely today- you know, in a visceral kind of way. Me? I'm doing as fine as ever, I suppose. Just living in the States, you know. Not watching television anymore- that's made me feel so much better. You should try it out, maybe for like a couple days or a week, and if you don't like it you can always go back to watching television.

I know you may have been going through some tough times lately, so I just wanted to say hang in there. Wish I had the answers. There's a lot of violence and sadness out there, you know, and a lot of fear tactics and extremism and what not. There's good stuff too, consider a bag of jellybeans- for every jellybean you eat and like, there's a weird jellybean that tastes bad and is hard to swallow. Yeah, I don't like jellybeans either.

Oh, and would you like to read these pamphlets on how to save your immortal soul? Just kidding. Almost had you though. I have no idea how to save your immortal soul, but I can bandage a cut pretty good. I know first aid and CPR and everything. I can even operate a defibrillator if your heart starts acting funky. I'm excellent like that- I can draw really nice pictures, I can sing songs pretty good, I can do a head stand and even a backflip on a trampoline (provided its a big trampoline, I'm 6'4"). I can also ask people really smart questions; I can look at things and think up really cool questions too. Hey! You're not so bad yourself! I bet you'd be really cool to draw or something. Gee, you have nice eyes. You're a good looking person, do you know that? Can you play an instrument? Do you have a lot of stuffed animals or anything? I bet you're a poet, or at least a writer.

But, hey, hold that thought, I gotta get going. I've got a final exam in a few hours, and I haven't done enough studying. I just wanted to say hi and that I know sometimes it hurts, but I don't feel bad for you. I just feel hurt, too.

Nice HI. Hi. I liked it, except for the recommendation not to watch television. Lots of excellent programs to watch and get info from on TV. There is also a lot of disinformation, but that was always the case in any media, and I think it used to be worse because there was a lot of lack of information necessary to know what disinformation is.

One feels obliged to post a nonresponse to this piece.

It reads like the internalised ramblings of an intellectually challenged individual at times - at other times it's like a plea for sympathy from a person suffering low self-esteem that's only aimed at himself.

No sign of your usual swagger Jack but it reads well.

There is something very tender about this peice, and I can't help but feel affectionate to it.

On a side note, I don't know how it is in the u.s, but tv is dying now in the young generations, I mean at my university the majority of people don't own tv's and if you asked them why dont you have a tv, the typical reply would be "well what is the point of having one?"

The internet really has made tv obsolete

The Mother of All Pick-Up lines, and I do mean "lines" in the plural.

Sounds as if the would-be swain is covering all the bases in the hopes that one of them might work. I found this piece to be very funny (in the humorous, not the peculiar way), although, as in all great humor writing, there's a definite underscore of sadness.

I was saying that before the Internet and now I don't watch TV at all.
Only this week, I was reading a magazine article about YouTube that describes it as the worldwide entertainment network. If I want to watch films, comedy, documentaries or anything else, it's there on YouTube, the choice is limitless. I'm not interested in football or sport in general so why do I need a TV? At least with YouTube I am able to choose what I want to see rather than have the rubbish that the TV companies send out and, if I wanted to, I could watch masses of TV programmes on it anyway. The days of the idiot box are numbered.

I don't have a TV. I just watch Netflicks or listen to the radio.

Anyway, I read this piece a few times, and wasn't sure what to make of it. I don't like these kind of pieces, as they are rather random feeling, at least, to this reader. I understand that is a one-sided conversation with a dear lady friend and it is very sweet. So, it is not random. It does have some nice humor, which lightens up the mood.
