Deep in my cavern,
humming a moody psalm
as if to warm me,
save me, lure me out and away.
My voice cracks,
a crevice in pitch dark,
wordless mewls
invoking that eternity
I don’t have the force
nor the courage
nor the blindness
to believe in.
I sag into sapless exhaustion,
my emotions like a grizzly
that stumbles in mid-dance
and yawns under nude oaks,
then rolls up in a corner
and starts a long,
dreamless night.
If only they could be!
Bears don’t smile,
bears don’t complain.
And bears fall easily asleep
whereas emotions don’t…
humming a moody psalm
as if to warm me,
save me, lure me out and away.
My voice cracks,
a crevice in pitch dark,
wordless mewls
invoking that eternity
I don’t have the force
nor the courage
nor the blindness
to believe in.
I sag into sapless exhaustion,
my emotions like a grizzly
that stumbles in mid-dance
and yawns under nude oaks,
then rolls up in a corner
and starts a long,
dreamless night.
If only they could be!
Bears don’t smile,
bears don’t complain.
And bears fall easily asleep
whereas emotions don’t…
