Just jumps in front
Gleaming red eyes
Lit up by my high beams
Looks like a wolf
But the silhouetted
Black body is a giant

I veer sharp to avoid
Fly off the road
Straight into the swamp

Coming to I hear grunting
Panting, scratching
And then see
Through the windscreen
Red eyes gleaming

I awake
Strapped to a table
Blood strewn sheets
Stone walls drip slime
Under oil lamps
And a light head
As though the top
Of my skull has
Been chopped

On the bedside
A bunch of rusty tools?
No - surgical weapons
But at least I am
Stitched

Next I am back
In the car
The safe lane
A mile from where
Cop shining a torch

Whatever. You know what, this reader likes it. He likes the creature part the best. Maybe it's just a story about how a man got in a car wreck about the creature thing, and the aftermath. And that's fine. That can be a good story too.
