Rows of pixels glare at me
and their collective bright lights
sear my retinas and melt my brain
until my head begs for relief.
256 colors flash across my Kindle
behind their tarp of plastic and blind me.
Is this really the new way
that people read books?
I've had enough of it!
A book, now there's my old friend
who's been waiting for me
on a dusty oak shelf.
With a paper spine and cardboard suit
I can feel its tender pages
in my caressing hands.
Inside, the heart of the book beats
with its messages in rich black blood.
