Ahhrrrrg! Just when we appear to have got rid of wizards and vampires along comes the next load of nonsense.
England has dukes and earls and various forms of nobility; the United States has cowboys.” As for their erotic appeal, she explains, “There is something very sexy about knowing that at 4 in the morning, if it’s 20 degrees below zero, that a guy’s going to get up and take care of things.”
In her current New York Times bestselling cowboy collection, Holiday in Stone Creek, what begins in Chapter 3 as heroine Olivia O’Ballivan’s timid fantasy
(“Drugstore cowboy, Olivia thought, but she couldn’t work up any rancor. Tanner Quinn might be laying on the Western bit a little thick, but he did look good. Way, way too good for Olivia’s comfort.”) turns into an X-rated romp less than 50 pages later (“She wanted hot, sticky, wet sex. And she knew Tanner could give it to her.”)
Yeah but not at 4 in the morning.

Funny you should say that, I've noticed that A LOT of my friends are doing "zombie walks" lately.

Zombies are eternal, though.
Yes, but they aren't really creatures of romance novels though :p ...unless you count Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

One of my departmental collegues moonlights as a writer for Mills & Boon - apparently there's an upsurge of demand for romantic Viking-themed novels as well... sigh...

I wonder if people of substance will go extinct, because how discouraging to have that knowledge to give to the world, and then in order to make a living in the age of media, a person must pander to the lowest common denominator.
Cacian, It's because the profit was (is) in the cow. The cowboy would actually rather drive something with a huge engine, and so that's why they weren't/aren't horseboys.

Do you want to know the really hysterical thing? He's an evangelical Christian who absolutely detests the idea of sex before marriage. I wonder how many other Mills & Boon writers share that opinion?
