I am pondering the use of diction in Shakespeare, particularly Hamlet. I am analysing Polonius' advice to Opehlia in Act I scene 3. My teacher told me to explain 'how the diction' in their encounter 'complicates the idea'.

Now, I know diction means the choice of words. So, I need to show how Shakespeare's choice of words has influenced or made the idea complicated, right? But what is 'the idea'? And how can it be simple or complicated?

Hmm... I'm just not sure if this is too tough a cookie for anyone to break!
