Hello!
I hope it's not frowned upon to just jump in and request help, but I would very much appreciate it if somebody could assist.
I'm a translator and the text I'm currently working on opens with the following quote from German poet Matthias Claudius:
"Und so leuchtet die Welt langsam der Weihnacht entgegen,
und der in Haenden sie haelt, weiss um den Segen."
For the benefit of those who don't speak German, it translates (very, very roughly!) as follows:
"And the world gradually brightens towards Christmas,
and he who holds it in his hands knows he is blessed."
The customer would like not a translation of this, but an equivalent quote, one that presumably reflects the general sentiment. Now, I'm feeling a little out of my depth here, so would be grateful for any input from people more knowledgeable than me about this sort of thing!
Many thanks! :smile5:
