I think this is an elegent, well constructed poem Jack. I might query the use of transmission though. It makes me think of man made satelites rather than heavenly bodies, and, given the time frame cited, I assume we're looking at a comet here. Unless of course you are privy to information I don't have about life in the cosmos ;)

Ahem...

I couldn't possibly fault this, Jack. I get the distinct feeling I know where the idea for this elegant piece originated. It's a very evocative poem and shows a deft touch.

So very skillful and felt, Jack. I savour your poetry. No nits, only kudos. Cheers. Bar

This is an affecting piece, J. Some nice word-smithing here, indeed.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading! Maybe transmission is kind of an odd word choice, Hawk... but it just felt right at the time?

Surrealism and reality neatly combined.

I presumed you were Halley's comet, but Wiki tells me otherwise. Nicely done.

I enjoyed reading this cool piece.

and touches the earth's face
every thirty-nine years.
I just wanted to ask why 39 ?

Thanks for reading! Why 39 is a good question. There is someone who has the answer, but it isn't the author of the poem.

Indeed I do... but I'm not telling in case I'm being presumptious.

No doubt Jack will reveal all when he deems the time right.

If anyone still cares to hear it: this poem was inspired by a conversation with hillwalker in which he mentioned a 39 year period over which he wrote no poetry or stories.

I never knew hill was an astronaut. 39 years must be some kind of record for being in orbit :D I rather like the idea of his being a living comet though ;)
