View Full Version : Threads Being Closed Without Explanation?

This seems to be happening a lot, lately. Usually when a thread is closed a reason is given, but now they're just being closed, and I sometimes can't figure out why. I know you're not supposed to bring this sort of stuff up or whatever and contact the moderator directly, but how can someone do that if one doesn't even know who's doing the moderating?

I concur with Mutatis' inquiry.

8. The Administrators’ and Moderators’ decisions are final. If you have a question or concern regarding these forum rules or a moderating decision, you can send a Private Message or email to Logos, Scheherazade, or the Site Administrator to address the issue(s). Keep it off the boards.

qimissung and I are also moderators.

Okay. It might just be helpful if you said why you close a thread, so we know what not to do--I'm not being facetious here . . . I honestly still don't understand what constitutes "good" and "bad" behavior here. Plus, I've not always had success with PMing moderators.

don't attack, threaten, harrass, abuse, or intimidate other members-that seems pretty explicit, Mutatis.

Or in other words, behave decently. Capiche?

It's just that on a lot of forums being closed, I didn't see that occurring. Or, at the least, I've seen much worse occur with no action taken.

I will have to defer to someone more experienced to answer your question, Mutatis.

It's no big deal, really. I was just curious.

The only reason threads are closed are because Forum rules are broken; the discussion turns into an argument with personal/inflammatory comments. Whether an explanation is posted or not, it is always safe to assume that the thread is closed because of the above.

Additionally, the moderators are under no obligation to give explanations; however, we do so as a sign of good will, so to speak.

And also perhaps because closing posts were deleted?
