The sun shines in a purple haze
Up on my once beautiful face. Dreams lay
Dead, my glazed eyes lost in a maze
The sunset will comfort me at the close of day.

Love is pain, love is splendour in the grass
Love is passion, love is desire, love is amour
No matter what, all things will come to pass
The serpent will tempt - the fruit will be sour.

I will reach out to touch the sunset's glow,
In the evening soft music will play
Mahler's symphony No 5, oh so slow...
Comfortably Numb, my body will sway.

We will love many times before our demise
Though many dreams are dead, we are alive
We will go on and on. Like the Phoenix, we will rise
We make love, we make war - somehow we survive.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses
In my strange nether world existence
I feel "Comfortably Numb".

Not bad, but all I could think of was Pink Floyd's song, and was looking for references to it.

Many thanks for your comment. The poem was inspired by PF...hence the title...to me they are the greatest. I am just new to this site.

You know, you'll get more viewings if you were to post this in the correct thread - Writing : Personal Poetry - which is for aspiring writers to share their pieces.

This also put me in mind of PF as soon as I saw the title - as well as Hendrix (Purple Haze) and George Harrison (All Things Will ... Pass).

That's good, Odette. I mentioned it because we have had people post poetry with titles or lines that were unintentionally reminiscent of something else.
