Hello guys.

I'm planning on taking my family and a couple friends to a ski resort in Colorado next winter (2012).

The problem is, I've never actually tried skiing or snowboarding before. Does anyone have any tips or information that could help me? Like, what prices should I expect for lodging and such... I'm planning on getting someone to give us like one lesson, since I used to skateboard when I was a kid, and that is definitely scarier/harder so I should be able to get the hang of it real fast.

Also, which resort is good but isn't terribly crowded during december/january? Someplace where they have good terrain and such... Thanks in advance.

Well, my buddy and I both work at the Winter Park Resort. December is going to be quite crowded, but somewhere around January third is when everyone goes back to school, so after that it should be fairly clear and open. Kevin says that we also have good starting terrain, so you might consider that. There are five lodges at the resort, and in the town of Winter Park there are even more. I don't have a clue as to what kind of prices you'd be looking at, but in the surrounding towns you should be able to find a pretty decent place for not a whole lot of money. Go to the Winter Park website and you should have a fairly easy time figuring things out.

I'll check it out, thanks.
