Tickets were all sold out.
I came up with the ingeniuos plan
of posing as one of his roadies.
I offered one of the toting crew
$100 to let me take his place.
He laughed in my face.
Hmm, I thought, this may cost me
more than I thought.
I offered $125 to the doorman
to let me in to hear
one of the gretest singers
of the past hundred years.
Again I was refused.
I slouched against the building
where Tony was singing,
sorrowing that I would never hear
that golden voice and perfect pitch.
Then the doorman motioned toward me
and opened the door.
I entered and the doorman said:
"Orders from Tony, you got a front row seat."
I was in heaven for an hour and a half
while Tony belted out all his hits.
Who says dreams can't come true.
I saw Tony Bennett from the front row
in Memphis, Tennessee in 2011.
