coaxed us with dancing shadows leaping from
branches tearing at the threads of our autumn coats
into the unknown we marched
with smiles held tightly
and hearts uncaged
we growled like foxes
exclaiming our existence
with eyes burning away
and mouths forming clever moonlit songs
our minds melted together
marking our genuine midnight togetherness
