INSECURE

Unconnected, reclusive,
sequestered as in kept away from others

Runner as in run away
hiding out
hiding, keep out of sight, as for protection and safety

Apprehensive
dread of possible harm

Hanging by a thread

Vulnerable as capable of being wounded hurt

Insecure as in unsafe~

I think you would do better to write a piece that leaves the reader free to give their own interpretation to the key words in this poem instead of leading us by the hand on what
sequestered, runner, apprehensive, vulnerable and insecure mean. We all have an idea but how we apply those meanings to ourselves is what will give the poem more strength if that makes sense.

Having said that, I think it contains potential if you re-consider its underlying message.

Welcome to Lit-Net and I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thank you for your honesty Delta40...I just wrote this and the Alone poem in one day, after a friend of mine sent me a poem that he thought of me when he read it...

Spent

BY RAE ARMANTROUT

Suffer as in allow.

List as in want.

Listless as in transcending
desire, or not rising
to greet it.

To list
is to lean,
dangerously,
to one side.

Have you forgotten?

Spent
as in exhausted.

I love this poem above and it just inspired me to write Insecure and Alone..the pun was unintended...lol

I don't think that this will be my style of writing poetry all the time, nor has it been in the past But honestly, I enjoyed writing them both and was pleased with the results for what they were intended to say personally to whom they were written to..

Nice to meet you :0)

It's exactly the kind of poem someone suffering insecurity would write - almost paranoid in the analysis of every thought, every word - so I think you came up with an original insight into the condition...
And they say copying someone else's style is the sincerest form of praise so there's no shame in admitting another poem inspired you to come up with this.
An interesting posting.

PS - you might wish to take note of the instructions for posting on here for future reference. One is encouraged to post no more than 1 piece a day to allow everyone else's efforts to be read before they slip off the bottom of the page.

Hillwalker...yes I have been very insecure...lol...It was comforting to read your understanding of my "condition"...I am a work in progress and this journey I speak of is part of a healing process that is going on in my life at this time..I'm guess i am searching myself, analyzing myself and figuring out who I am and where all these stepping stones are leading me...

Thanks for the encouragement..
