I looked towards the light,
Beckoning with false promise
And I dabbled in its delusion
For just a second.

I closed my eyes,
Wishing for your hand
And clung to its absent grip,
Praying for angels’ smiles.

I realised my fingers
Had let go of the door
That we once propped ajar,
Before it slammed in my face.

Under shrouds of darkness
My keys fell on the floor,
And I couldn’t find your guidance
To light their hidden path.

I cried for your rescue,
But you had locked the shutters,
And moved to a new address,
Returning me to sender.

Open to interpretation. For a moment there I thought of death and the path toward the light, feeling the loneliness of the journey but then with the shutters closed and moving to a new address, I thought more about rejection. But returning you to sender still holds a theme of death!

I'm confused but I enjoyed it anyway!
