The Worm

In a fruit so delectably abyssal there lived Worm. He ventured through the labyrinth of his fruit, so sweet and robust a morsel. Worm met every wall with a caressing stroke of his slimy exterior. He loved his home deeply and all the sugary coated juices that oozed through every puncture and every vein. Worm knew little of the world beyond this abode of riches, he did not dream of anything else, in this fruit was his universe. And when you're a little worm in a world of pleasure and sugary juice, what is left to dream of? The answer is nothing. But to Worm's dismay, a world of riches, flavor, and pleasure was ripped from his transparent epidermic grasp. At first it felt as if the world itself shook to it's core as cracks of light decorated his sky. The light was blinding and his world crumbled around him, fear oozed from his heart. And as he writhed in the pool of his filth and ignorance; the world exploded. Worm choked and gargled the sweet juices that were once his staple. They splashed and ripped him from wall to wall, bruising and battering him. As he felt the unnaturally warm light of this new world, for a moment, an idea crossed his mind as he lay motionless. His last thought, on the stage of his grotesque end, was so simple. It was so perfect and honest that it was his most productive thought of all; I should have known that nothing lasts forever.
