The rocket attack in the Prole section caught me off guard. What is it's significance or meaning? Does it have to do with the Prole's lack of education? Thanks in advance.

I believe that this does not have much to do with the Prole's lack of education. The people believe that the bombs are coming from Eastasia or Eurasia but, I believe they are being sent from Oceania itself. The government uses the rocket attacks as a way to keep the country in a state of emergency, making them easier to control. I also believe that the bombs are used to keep the people in belief that they are still at war with another country. The rocket bombs are just another way of controlling the people.

Yes, I agree with Chocolatecake. I believe the bombs are used to maintain the fear within the proles. This leads them to believe that they are still at war with the enemy. The proles are easier to minipulate when they are under the impression that they are attacked.
