View Full Version : Author Fantasy Draft
Draft order determined by post order. First 10 play. I get first pick:
Cicero
Stewed
10-29-2011, 09:39 PM
Shakespeare!
Li Bai might have been available in the 2nd round. :P
Calidore
10-29-2011, 10:10 PM
Stephen King! :biggrinjester:
What are we drafting for, exactly?
I think the only goal is to make an impressive list at the end.
Pierre Menard

Rowlings. She's got some cash.
Alexander III
10-30-2011, 04:13 PM
Dante - surprised he was not the first pick :O
Scheherazade
10-30-2011, 04:44 PM
Bernard Shaw.
Whoever makes next pick takes two consecutive picks then it snakes backwards with Scheherazade-Alexander III-Papayahed-GG-PM.. And so forth making their second pick ending in my taking consecutive picks (my 2nd and 3rd) and the order snaking back once more where it will then follow that pattern.

That's going to slow things down in a big way. Wouldn't it be easier to simply announce a new round when everyone's made their picks?
Also, how many rounds will there be?
And finally, I'm wondering if this belongs in the "Forum Games" section.

I'm not exactly sure what we're doing...But, James Joyce.
Forum Games does sound appropriate right? This what we've got anyway. What about 10 rounds? As far as the serpentine, that's the only way to handicap picks and value.
Pick twice (once more), Desolation, you are the final competitor! Commence the second round of ten!
Desolation

Alrighty then.
Ernest Hemingway.
The second round will continue with:
Scheherazade
Alexander III
Papayahed
Gilliatt Gurgle
Pierre Menard
Calidore
JBI
Stewed
ZTAY
And the third with:
ZTay
Stewed
JBI
Calidore
Pierre Menard
Gilliate Gurples
Papyahed
Alexander III
Scheherazade
Desolation.
It appears things have just gotten serious, so ponder your picks with care!

Forgive me for the questions, but it's easier to play a game properly when you understand the rules and goal.
I don't think it's been said yet what we're doing with our picks once the draft is over, so how are you defining value? As far as the serpentine order of choosing, I get the reasoning, but not the reason, if you know what I mean.
Li Bai might have been available in the 2nd round. :P
Yes but probably the world's most beloved poet is the top pick, given that he also was a reputable vigilante swordsman in his youth, as well as an esteemed drinking partner.
See you kind of set your own value.

Do I have to wait for the others above me to go?
If not, I'll take Walt Whitman for the second round.

I'll take Judy Blume if nobody grabs her before my turn.
Scheherazade

2. Oscar Wilde
1. Bernard Shaw
Alexander III

Wait I am sorry - but I am compleatly confused. Would it not be better to start from the begining with some actual rules and scope of the game. I mean, how is one meant to win?
Stewed

Your turn, I think.

I think we're just turning the pages for now, and the plot will reveal itself eventually.
And Stewed is right, you're up. Papayahed has already chosen, so the next three after you are Gilliatt, Pierre, and me. I already know who my next three picks will be.
Alexander III

ZTay things are begining to go haywire.
Not sure what's going on here, maybe that is the intent.
I believe it is my turn.
Anyhow, I just drafted Victor Hugo. I realize he is a risk, given last seasons problem with the back, but we had such a miserable year I figured what have we got to lose?
.
Was hoping to find out if you all could follow directions. Alexander III did not follow directions. He gets Virgil and not f Scott Fitzgerald too as he did not have two picks to take being at that moment in possession of only one. It is Gurples pick, with Pierre contingently drafting Whitman, then it will be calidores pick.

It does have a nice ring to it, but is doesn't work with Gilliatt's demise.
So ZTay, you say "...it IS Gurples pick..", is that to imply that my Hugo draft counts as my pick? or do I need to select another?
.
I've erred conspicuously. Calidores then. With whitman counting for pierre. My mistake.
