"Oh it’s raining today. We can’t go anywhere” was the first thing I thought today when it started raining.

I remember when we were kids, we used to ask dad to take us out every weekend. Even when we were in a place where the sound of rain never stopped - Kudremukh. Apart from grandpa's place it was the first place we actually stayed, where it rains so heavily

At start we used to ask dad if it was "ok" not to go to school because it rained so heavily, but got to know that it will always be the same .At first it was difficult to wear raincoat on our new uniform, bag, socks, shoes .We used to watch our every step in that muddy road to reach 2 min before the bus arrives to the stop to avoid rain. There was a place in corner of classroom to keep wet umbrella and raincoats. Some of the raincoats would be dripping with mud and I had to make a place to keep mine. I used to feel the place was boring, wet, damp and smelly.

Slowly we got adjusted to the place and started loving the rain, we even stopped going by bus and walked to school through park to enjoy the rain splashing the stored rain water at each other on the way and I belonged to those students whose raincoat would be muddy.

Once on our usual weekend outing in our car, dad asked us: "Which do you think is the important part of car?" I said "Break" and guess what Sam said “The Wiper" :).

Remembering those days made me think how I have forgotten to enjoy the rain again and I stepped out :).

This was such an enjoyable read it's a shame you hid it away down here. You should post it again in the Writing - Short Story Sharing thread. You'll certainly get more readers and hopefully more feedback.
