I have read The Virgin Suicides and I am now reading Middlesex. I must say that I quite like the style of Eugenides, especially how he portrays the narrators. The anonymous, formerly juvenile boys of The Virgin Suicides and the humble, ironic Cal of Middlesex are great narrators. Both novels take place (partially) around Detriot and amply reflect the rise and decline of the city. The way Eugenides his themes of myth, sexuality, adolescence, migration etc is great.
What do you think of him? Do you like his novels? And what do you think of the movie adaption to The Virgin Suicides by Sophia Coppola?
