I can't remember the name of this book?

There was this book I read 6-7 years ago that I really want to find again. I thought it was called, The Center of the Universe or The Center of my universe, but I might just be imagining that, because I can't find anything by that name. My library used to have it in the young adult section. I don't remember much about it. It was a largish book, about a gay teen, his mother had come over to England (I think ) from America, they lived in a large house (which I think the mother might have inherited). The mother had somewhat unconventional parenting methods, letting her kids have more free reign than most, The mother might have been a lawyer.. I think the book ended with the boy going to America to find his father.

If anyone knows wha tbook this is, could you please tell me?

I think you can find lists of gay novels on a few specialist websites so might want to google that and see if it appears on the list.
