View Full Version : Dealing with our perpetual spammer

For the past few weeks, we've been getting spam, posted in threes, advertising sites that are streaming (probably illegally) UFC and other fight cards. They're being deleted quickly but never stop coming. I'm wondering if, since simply removing the messages hasn't been a deterrent, it would be worthwhile to contact his webhosts (Yola, Blinkweb, Typepad, etc.) and get him banned. Would it be helpful if I posted links to the abuse addresses for the sites he's using so people can complain directly?

I would do anything that hindered the pest. In my view spamming should be a criminal offence, as with all unsolicited mail except where it's necessary.
I would like to see hacking and virus spreading as a capital offence in which the perpetrators were exterminated like the disease they are.
I'm perfectly serious about this.

When I saw the title of this thread, my heart sank...
I thought it was in response to the number of old threads I have been reviving recently.
Need to get used to the idea that not everything in life is about me.
Regarding the spammers: Once they prove that they are persistent, repeat offenders, their IP is blocked usually. However, there is no fool proof remedy for spam.

These must be getting deleted rather quickly as I haven't even run into one, yet. Unless it's been within the last week or so, in which case I've been barely active.

I was actually thinking exactly the same, Mutatis... Too slow, I suppose. :D
