Pongo

[Delta40]

Pongo leaps through the long grass
chasing butterflies.
He stalks anything
that moves in the wind.
Fluffy seedling spores float on the air
to be snatched by this tiny predator,
whose tail switches in triumph.
Don't blink or he will pounce
and drag your little finger
to his imaginary cave like a prize kill,
till finally, he curls into a ball
of satisfied purring sleep,
his ginger coat glinting in the sun.

Don't tell me there's a real Pongo!

Especially kittenish this Delta - I wouldn't have picked him as a ginger because I was seeing a friend's little black Grizzler who is like a tiny black leopard in leotard

Delightful. Love this.

Our little black fuzzball kitten "Princess" passed away 3-months ago (I believe it was from eating cheese in retrospect), and the very day we had her mercifully put down we were graced with "Odie" - a little ginger kitten who loves toes and nips on nose. His eyes have turned from a baby's blue to that of gold flecks one might find in the streams here-abouts. We haven't allowed him outside yet (too many predators).

We used to allow Princess outside to explore with us on a leash (sigh). I look forward to watching him interact with the "real world" once he's older.

As of now our herd is: 5-outdoor cats: Smoke (Moke), Geri, Little Sam, Friskie, & Spooky; 2-indoor/outdoor cats: Tiger (Tai-Tai) and Scooter-Pi (Scooter); and 2-indoor cats: Taffy-Doodles (Taffy or Doodles) & Odie ! At one time we had about 20-cats total due to irresponsible owners. Oh, and 2-horses plus 1-horse being "boarded"... And - Pooper dog (grrrrrrrrrrr !)
