In my absence
I stood by the fireplace
and pissed upon burning logs.
I missed you.
I chewed inside my cheek,
it tasted of you
and of me.
Smoked and I thought
you were burning.
Screwed as I thought
you may care.
I caught my green eyes in the mirror
they reflected no love left
to share.
In my absence
I searched
and felt empty
then I saw, I am no longer there.

I think that perhaps might care, rather than may care. May is more of a permission, as in, "Yes, you may go to the ball Cinderella." However, it doesn't sound as if you'd want to at the moment. If you did you'd almost certainly drink too much and insult the Prince (or his mother) and be asked to leave! Now there's a poem waiting to be written. :D

Live and be well, JB. Tell the N that life is suffering and the art of living lies in learning to cope ;)

Best, H

You're not really supposed to piss on an indoor fireplace, you know. Just sayin.' It would smell. Also, unsanitairy.

were it not for "... they reflected no love left to share," "I chewed inside my cheek" would have been my preferred line.

Jerry's back!

(Or absent?)

This I presume is about someone's emotional upheaval/tumoil. To your credit you've captured that sense of complete loss.

I'd go with searched the emptiness over felt empty
