Sanctuary

With a bowed head
stained cheeks lifted
Eyes turned up.
The answer is spoken;
He is not for you.
Words bouncing in and
out of the ear,
like a screen saver.
Anger and redness,
clenched hands over pew.
A slow devil-like hiss
to stand amidst
the oppressive
stain glass light.
An acknowledgment,
looking forward,
blowing into the tissue.
Christ is sanctuary.
