After school ends a graduate is supposedly more educated. I've spent a year unemployed and collecting unemployment.

As I think about what I did while in school and what I do out of it I find them to be very similar. When in school I learned a lot especially about what I thought was boring, I thought reading was boring, I thought news was boring, I thought if I had a job I could afford a lifestyle that would be less boring.

It has been a year and now I find reading to be a daily source of excitement. Being unemployed with few places to be is lonely, but reading about the lifestyles of other people depressed, alone or worse nearing death reduces those feelings.

Occasionally I'd go out and pretend to take photos and make my own news, a monthly publication. There are events in my neighborhood that aren't covered by the news which are equally boring, but at least I know its happening in my neighborhood. And when I shoot the photo I think the same think a big conglomerate thinks how can I make something boring interesting. But I think if these events were a part of a historical book, people might think my neighborhood as thrifty, non-violent and friendly.

Regardless I doubt many jobs pay well enough to change my life or feelings about it, so I've concluded the best thing to do is do what I did in school.

Pick an industry/profession learn how it works and try to learn those skills. After learning the skills/tools I realize that a big problem is how/who is going to pay for employing these services? Or worse why would they pay for them? Many industries provide the value of their services upfront, except selling insurance.

Anyone else coping with the life after graduation problem?
