beneath a branch
across the bar
at arms length
of reason

what is that
growing there
and is this
the season

I believe
I have faith
that we all seek
the touch of poison

even though
this life is sweet
we cherish bitters
with our meat

and pray for cold
when we have heat
and crave the touch
of poison

Wow! I really enjoyed the rhythm of this (believe is spelled wrong) and its brevity

Yes, a well-crafted poem on temptation, munkin.

The first stanza's references to original sin and a more earthly one set things up nicely; and the slightly off 'reason-season-poison' rhyme works well to link things together.

It's a very crisp little piece.

Thanks, I added two verses
I can see that it could easily
become much longer.
