Refugees wash up on the rocks
hoping one day to walk a lamplit street
where pizza and burgers slowly kill a nation.
They say they don't like pho bo and dim sims anymore.
Living in detention, working a vegetable barrow
from dawn to dusk, never stopping.
Talking mumbo jumbo so fast that the customers
slow down and sound like two year olds.
car-rots ve-ree nice too-day
Ya Ya!
Yes they are. Blazing orange like an anglo-saxon.
Not black like a gang of drunk Noongars
circling the local bottle shop.
Reeling, lurching, pissing on the wall.
Gimme that bottle you c unt!
Yet an assortment of little children
from every corner of the world
yearn to play in the park,
burn up their stored energy,
drink in the golden sun,
and swing to the highest of possible heights.

Funny how we take things for granted, isn't it? Maybe everyone should have had an adverse background to appreciate the nicer things in life...

You reference drunken Noongars as being without purpose, but I think it's more a sociological thing - they need to fit in to the group, even if the common bond is self-destructive and self-defeating, but where to go if this is where you belong?

The contrast idea is good, the different meanings of contrast is shown clearly, and as usual your language is excellent Delta :)
