If truth, like a handful of salt,
were spilled on a table in front of you,
and the sun, through the blear of the window,
picked out each grain to illuminate it,
would you wet your fingertips
and press them into the salt?

Well, you've done it again, my friend. Can I print this and put it up where I can press my fingertips to it's truth every day?

Yes, indeed you may do that - and thank you.

Love the phrase 'blear of a window'.

But I'm left wondering why does this need to be presented as a question? - could it not end

you could wet your fingertips
and press them into the salt.

... just a thought in passing.

Yes, it could end like that but then the question would you would not be posed. "Truth," here, after all, is analogous to salt, which might sting.

Hillwalker, I personally find a question to be a lot more powerful and provocative than a statement. A question asks you to think; a statement precludes that option.

I agree with quimssung. Much more thought provoking as you ask us to look inside our own selves on this great piece. You are the definitely the king of wisdom on Lit-Net Prince!

seeing writings like this make me WANT to be a writer. Your words speak to me, I want to speak to the world the way you do. I applaud.

Thanks, Shaz, and I feel somewhat the way you do either when I read something I admire and I want to experience the joy I assme the writer felt in writing it; or when I read something so bad that I need to write something to get the taste of what I just read out of my head.
