You're the Champix* I wash down
with a pharmacopia of substitutes
for microgram living.
So sing A Spoonful of Sugar
as our colostomy bag of love overflows!
We dribble what's left along cappuccino strip,
those erstwhile domains of skinny lattes.
Lovers flee to the park, grateful only when
we part alfresco at the bus terminal.
Without you here, my flannelette pyjamas
wear at the knees from watching too much tv.
At night, the pill box by my bedside beckons
and promises to make the unbearable loss
a mild side effect of renal failure.
Our divergent paths are crisscrossed histories
spattered with caustic urine and imploded stones.
Residual answers seep down the stent
collecting in pools of questions
that neither of us are willing to ask.

My God, Delta - there's nobody like you for tackling the most intimate, the most earthy of subjects, and doing it with decorum! Another winner.

Quite unpleasant, but not a bad poem!

A cri de coeur, without a doubt, strongly detailed with palpable imagery. (Must be powerful because as soon as it came on the screen, I had to "Degauss" the monitor of
Pong 2.0, but the screen's still bowing inward.)

Only two questions --the fraying knees of the pj's. Is the
speaker in the habit of watching the tv as if (s)he were
praying? And who is the other half of the "us"?

Absolutely there is no one I can think of who can create intimacy out of such imagery so disparate.

I have this dark side yearning to spill out.... :biggrin5:
