Bukowski: More Beat Than The Beats?

I love Bukowski and have read all his novels, but he tends to repeat himself. It is not hard however to be more beat than your average suburbanite slob.

His statement pretty much speaks to our current generation's internal fascination with violence over an external condemnation of the violence around us and beyond us.

As much as I didn't want to get into Bukowski, my bias changed once I picked up "Hollywood" and "Pulp".
