I won off ground touch fair and square,
I was stood on bubble gum
and that was off ground.
I played in your wendy house,
gave you a chinese burn,
came home as daddy to your mummy,
removed the dog crap from the sand pit,
made you a play doh phone
and called you often
asking for Twinkle.
I drew your hopscotch,
held your rope,
shared my pick n mix,
picked roses,
to make your perfume,
held your hand when the bell rang.
What the hell did Tommy bastard Davey
do to win your heart?

You captured the grief of childhood love thwarted by some flighty bird who preferred someone with a neat line in swagger to a true romantic.

The only good thing is that these shallow relationships never last. Nice to see you back after your hols.
