What number am I up to?
Three, no four.
Make a cup of tea in the frosty morning,
thinking I must get a fluffier dressing gown.
Just let me get steamy warm before I look at five.
Puff, cough, puff.
Have a smoke and think about number six.
Eat a bowl of runny porridge.
Swallow a dozen different kinds of medication.
Feed cats shredding my flyscreen to bits outside
Tackle the never ending task of what I'm going to wear.
Write a poem and wait till the evening for reviews.
Maybe I can change the order I do things.
Make my life more exciting.
What number am I up to?
That's right. Eleven.
Have a shower.
Is shampooing my hair and brushing my teeth separate?
Style my hair. I'm gonna smash that hair dryer one day.
Cover my face in make-up.
Ah, I feel a bit better now.
Oh crap! I forgot to make my lunch (That was supposed to be number seven!)
Check I've got everything I need in my bag.
Now it weighs at least 3 kgs!
Must remember the house keys.
Catch the bus and train (oops! my Smartrider card is in yesterdays bag!)
Goodbye friends.
See you at Nine hundred and seventy nine.

Ah Delta, preparing for work

It was one of the things about 'work' I hated the most. The sense of excitement that greets the new day with its infinite possibilities, but ultimately very little eventuates

You've got to make the morning last :)

By the way, have you seen one of these:

Why Delta, are you a *whispered* tax collector?! This read a bit more like a list than a poem proper, but was still very relatable. Although, I get the feeling you can't wait to be done with your 1001 things, whereas I'm trying to THINK of things to do to fill my days... yesterday was the sloooooowest day ever and I thought I'd go mad, I actually thought my watch battery was on the fritz...

I like it, though not as much a your others. There just seems to be a flow and lack of aesthetic language missing in this that always makes your work wonderful to read, though, I think that was the intention with the list-like feel of preparing for the day.

It was meant to have that mundane list like feel so thanks for spotting it Mutatis

Brushing teeth/showering is not to be done simultaneously. Get the bits of catfood out over the sink!

ha ha! The catfood isn't that nice! I'm relegating this poem to dump, I think.

I adore this poem because I have list chores to do everyday and never quite get finish.
