It had no value
no real value anyway
well – except to me.

A birthday present -
from undergraduate times
that seem long ago

and an entire world
that does not exist today
except in my mind.

It was more than just
a blue glass candle holder -
it was memories.

Now just broken glass -
two seconds of clumsiness
and sudden panic.

All the super-glue
in the world cannot repair
my now broken heart.

Anecdotally, everything we need to envision the situation is there: candleholder, glass, association with earlier times...but beyond the fact that the object was blue, there's nothing to speak of its uniqueness either in itself or in how it fit into your emotional landscape.

Well, I don't need to paint the entire picture. I don't want to rob you of your own imagination.

Thanks, I really did try superglue. It failed.

It's a moving piece. I think using an alternative word to one of the 'excepts' might be better and I think the last line is awkward. Otherwise, very relatable.

You do use too much glue here,Red, I hate to read this piece, those useless lines... Please allow me to say so.. but on the other hand, I understand your experiencing for "game"

Yeah, it's a 'work in progress' I think. I may rewrite it in standard four line stanzas or a more free form.

Yes, you are quite correct, it scans oddly. I think the subject of the poem & its emotive content can be identified with but there is a clumsiness with the delivery.
