The tin of Snappy Tom in beef chunks and gravy
smells far more appetizing than what is on my plate.
Dried up stringy corned beef with brussel sprouts like stones.
I dimly recall the Family Sunday Roast.
Lashings of gravy poured over yorkshire pudding and my Father
who once stood proud at the head of the table, carving the meat.
I gobbled down the crusty corners then held out my plate smiling,
Please Daddy. Can I have some more?
My nostalgic tummy rumbles as the chunky beef is served
to cats weaving between my calloused feet, mewing for an extra helping.
How misty eyed I get watching them lick their platters clean!

When I first read the title, I read it as Small Memories haha :D I like it, but I am sure there's sth hidden I don't see, it would only make it better, I will read others' interpretations to understand it better. :D

I love Yorkshire Pudding. I had to Duck Duck Go (http://duckduckgo.com/?t=i) 'Snappy Tom'. Might be alright on a Vegemite sandwich ...

A nice evocation of warm, happy feelings from a time gone by...

Smell is a powerful stimulant for memory. Sometimes I get a whiff of just the right combination of floor polish, mashed potato and gravy and I'm back in infant school, being haunted by the ghosts of school dinners. I'm afraid (possibly just grateful) that cat food doesn't do it for me though :D Loved the oliver twist line in your remeniscence.

Waxing nostalgic, eh ? Well done.

I agree with Hawkman re: smell (hence my last poem: "3:07 am 8.2.2011" [As I google for my poem I wonder what 翻译,翻译兼职,兼职翻译 means ? - no matter.] ).

Ah. Yorkshire pudding ! My Mother is coming for a visit in 2-fortnights and I'm going to beg for some good old English fare; Yorkshire pudding is high on my list.

Ta ! (short for tarradiddle),

But it really does smell like that. It smells like a holiday meal from years gone by. What a subtle thing to pick up on and write a poem about.

Just eat the cat food. We won't tell. I bet it'd be great over a mound of mashed potatoes.

Ahh I remember when yorkshire puddings had corners. Ours were served up before the roast dinner. There were five of us arguing our case for not having the flat bit out of the middle.

I have never seen a cat chase a cow with the intention of eating it and do not understand why cat food isn't made from mice or sparrows, baby blackbirds etc.

I did enjoy your poem though.
