Never before had she thought she’d have to fight for survival. Never before had she thought she’d be thrown into a situation where survival was life, every decision that was made revolved around keeping herself and the people around her alive. If they went outside they could be shot, if they stayed inside they ran the risk of dying from starvation and of being found. Cyndi reckoned they were lucky not to have been found already, apparently the fact that this place under the school had been a secret to the student body meant that the people who had taken over their school didn’t know about it either. They were lucky that Celeste had known about it, the seven year old child genius. Celeste must have been a lonely girl because since this had started and they had all become so close she’d completely changed, at the start she’d been reluctant to help them, only wanting to be with Cyndi and Dylan who had worked together to get her and themselves to this safe place. It was the only safe place in this entire school right now, and they kept guard on it to make sure it stayed safe. They’d had several close calls, when those military people went on patrol. They knew full well that there were still group of students, still a rebel group inside their boundary. So many surviving students had changed over too their side that Cyndi wasn’t sure whether or not they had a brainwashing operation going somewhere. That made her wonder why they hadn’t been affected.
“Cyndi!” She jumped and looked up from her thoughts as Dylan walked up too her.
“We’re running out of food.” She frowned up at him, straightening from how she leaned over the low fire. She threw some more fire wood into it to keep it going. They had fluked getting it to burn in the first place so they didn’t want it to go out anytime soon.
“These military guys have too have food somewhere right? We need to find where they keep their food and then raid it. Thalia!” Dylan smirked at their leader who had already sorted a plan out in her head. It surprised him how she went from being this average girl, not doing anything to stand out when they were still high school kids to being the leader of a rebel group. Somehow she just became the leader; she took charge when the massacre happened and since then they all just referred too her.
“Yeah Cyndi?” Thalia had never been his first choice for what they nicknamed ‘Ninja Missions’, situations where they needed information from the military people around them, but right from the start it was Cyndi who assigned her those missions. And he had to admit Thalia pulled them off without a hitch, it was like Cyndi saw their weaknesses and their strengths right off the bat and used them for their advantage. During the massacre Cyndi’s friends had been shot down around her, she’d escaped with Celeste by jumping out of the third story window. She’d killed her ankle but had still managed too get away from the building before she’d run into two more shooters, blocking any hope of her escape. That was where Dylan had appeared and also it was the first time one of them had murdered someone. Dylan smashed one of the shooters skulls in and then Cyndi had taken that shooters gun and shot the second shooter. A terrified Celeste had lead them here, they picked up Thalia and Akito, both of whom were about to be killed when they found them, and had disappeared into this place. Their high school had been turned into a military base, it was the main base where whoever was running this operation stayed. It was also the most highly guarded, which was why a rebel group who had been situated inside the base from the very start was so valuable. And so dangerous to those military freaks.

“I need you to trail one of the military people, see if you can find where they keep their food.” Cyndi ordered and Thalia brightened.
“I already know that, I can lead Dylan and Akito there already!” Thalia was very loud when she wasn’t on a mission but when she was in immediate danger she turned so quiet it was near impossible to hear her. The only person Thalia wasn't able to sneak up on was Cyndi, who knew if there was someone around her without hearing or seeing anything.
"And you didn't think it important to share this information in the first place?" It was only after the massacre that everyone had learned how terrifying Cyndi had the potential to be. Her glare truely made you think it could kill you. She had changed from being an easy going, average girl to being a mother, a leader and a cold-blooded killer. Cyndis lack of a good memory had handicapped her in high-school life but was now her advantage. She was able to make herself forget the faces of those she sliced down. She was able to stay sane.

"I-I'm sorry Cyndi, the moment when I had discovered it was seconds before Akito was shot." Cyndi flinched, ok that was a definite good excuse. The day Akito was shot was when they were still trying to figure out what had happened and it had been more traumitising then anything that had happened before. It had driven home the reality that they couldn't go to anyone for help, it had given them a feeling of despair and lonliness as they watched Akito suffer with a fever from blood loss. He still had a bandage around his leg and it was Celeste who changed it and cleaned the wound. It had been Cyndi who had given everyone hope, the normally calm girl had suddenly blazed with a passion. It was a passion, a need, to survive, to hold on to what she knew about herself. Her brothers, her family, were still on the outside. It was Cyndis passion and anger that had ignited the fire in the others. The despair was replaced with hope. Perhaps that was why Cyndi was the leader.
"Ok, thats a good reason. Lets hope they're stupid enough to have left it unguarded. Take both Akito and Dylan but both of you watch out for Akito. His legs still not completely healed."
