I'd love to have a "save as draft" button in the poetry and short story sharing forums. Sometimes you don't have a chance to get it down in one sitting, and I'd like to have drafts saved online for convenience. What do you say?

Do you have Microsoft Word? What I do is write it in Word, then copy it to the thread.

Actually, I did post a short story once--but I did it in segments.

You might also write it in a blog first, the copy it to the thread.

Thanks, SilentMute, I do have Microsoft Word... I just don't want my stuff on my computer's hard drive. The blog might be a good idea; it would just be more convenient to have a "save as draft" button.

USB sticks - they fit in your pocket, and I have one with a key chain

I think if you don't want stuff on your hard drive and Lit-Net doesn't create a draft button then USB is the way to go

I should perhaps add that I don't use the keychain function

A couple of days ago I found someone's entire keychain in the supermarket carpark (must have fallen off the roof of their car, though how they started the vehicle is a question - hotwiring the probable answer)

And about a year ago I lost my keychain - terrible! Terrible also because it had a useful little knife and nailfile in it. I bought a little pocketknife thing to ensure I'd never do it again (it's got nailclippers, file, toothpick, tweezers, scissors, and knife, all of which come in unbelievably handy daily)

Ensuring your tiny USB is safe could be tricky though - maybe sew a secret pocket into your dressing gown?

There are sites with wordprocessing ablity, and others that allow you to store anything you want to (I have one but don't use it - already too many passwords)

Mine stays in the filing cabinet!

Compose as an email and send it to yourself- aka the 'student's delight' (saving this student's butt on a regular basis).

Use Google docs, http://docs.google.com. Free version of microsoft word, everything is stored in the cloud, and only if someone gets your password will they have access (which is about the same security you'd have here if there were a save draft function.

You can also access it from any PC you happen to be sitting at.

Thanks, Chris, that's a good idea :)
