Adrift on a rolling ocean
In a broken refrigerator
With an old sheet for a sail
As a storm breaks
Old Neptune appears
Demanding what the Hell am I thinking!
'You'll get drowned!'
I ask him what he's talking about
He mutters something about seaworthiness
To which I respond my fridge is secure
But it needs to be fixed
He eyes me quizzically
Summons a merepairmaid to take a look
Who inquires whether the light stays on when I close the door
Haven't tried this, because it's a boat
Not a submarine
Though I get the point that she seems to be making
Better to be under the waves
During a storm at sea
Then getting queasy above
It occurs to me that she may not be a qualified mertradesmaid
Hey, Poseidon!
Ignores me
Neptune!
'What?'
Could you do something about the weather?
'Like..?'
Could you ease up on it?
A puzzlement melts over his bearded countenance
Very pleasant before you turned up - no offence
'None taken'
Where are you going?
'Storms follow'
Oh, I see
Could you leave the mer-..?

Unfortunately she went too

I found this to be a delightful adventure, although I'm confused about what happened at the end...

"Merepairmaid!" Ha! :D

This was a wonderful, imaginative read Mystyr. I love how alot of your poetry is not age specific. I know little children as much as us adults will enjoy this! A true gift indeed.

Thanks every - you're only confused by the end? The whole thing confused me ;) I was trying to say (succinctly) Neptune brought the storm, and then left with it, while it was actually his consort who brought the storm (then I thought oops too much detail, and scratched the last four lines)

Thankyou Delta - I try to be understood (I do - I try! Honest!). This is sort of being at a loss (all at sea) and feeling the pressures (the storm) and wanting a god to step in and take some responsibility for the mess - or just lighten up and leave me in my original muddle without making everything go Kersplosh!

What an imagination. I see it published for children, illustrated, though certainly not dependent on illustration. It is as pictorial as it is so well said.

One of the most endearing trips through your imagination that I have read.

We'll see tailor :) - I'm only a few pages in and it may be beyond my scope, especially at the moment with all the other busy-ness I've got going on...
