What has happened to G L Wilson? I tuned in today hoping for a few laughs, if not serious comment, and lo and behold, a number of his posts are no longer on view. Could this be due a malfunction of the system or have the moderators in their infinite wisdom removed them to some obscure Litnet equivalent of the goulag?

I think I heard him screaming 'I'm melting, I'm melting! Oh what a world. What a world' earlier

We are both English, & this is an American site. Our cultures (the UK & the US) have very different attitudes to freedom & freedom of speech apparently.

I thought for a moment you had him hogtied somewhere.

Looking at the General Literature forum I note that there are a number of G L Wilson's posts such as Aboriginal Studies, Feminine Culture etc. still current, so perhaps he will be making further contributions for our delectation.

Please. These are privately run forums, not some sort of democratic society. The nationality of the owners is irrelevant, so please don't pull the "USA is bad" card on this one--it's quite cliche, no? Especially since the forums strictest moderator--Scheherazade--is English. (This is not a criticism, just an observation.)

Anyways, if G L is banned, it will say so under his name. Several of his threads were clear violations of the rules, so I don't see any reason they shouldn't have been deleted.

I'm not going to intercede on Red-Headed's behalf, because I'm pretty sure he can answer for himself. I would, however, like to know how you deduce that Scheherazade is English, as she has, to date, kept a very low profile as to her nationality.

I'm pretty sure red-headed is female and I deduced that based on her sense of humour but I could be wrong. And she made a valid point but it would probably make an interesting discussion on another thread.

I have a heart for that bloody-faced volleyball bouncing around everywhere, and I'll be sad if he's lost at sea, but I think it would do him good to stop for a breather occasionally, and hopefully that's what's going on with him.

I for one find it amazing the extent people are willing to break the rules in complaining about someone else breaking the rules. Now it's gone from unprovoked personal attacks in posts to an entire thread started solely for the purpose of targeting one person.

I get the impression that there is a division between Lit-Nutters about GL Wilson's threads. This is general chat not serious discussion and we have an opportunity to laugh at ourselves. GL Wilson at least switched on some people's sense of humour button and I for one hope he comes back so I can choke on my coffee at his outrageous statements and the responses which follow!

Now that we have discussed the merits of G L Wilson and Scher's nationality this thread has served it's purpose and will now be closed.
