i would like to lie with you
in a garden of moonflowers
my legs wrapt about your frame
like vines of ivy bent about an old home
tired and frail.
I see the strength in us, a bond
everlasting,
like new paint on that old wooden fence
that keeps us caged, like livestock
from nine til
five,
or some nights,
til dawn.
i want to brush your hair with my fingers
while you fall asleep to the television,
and count the stars on cold winter nights
from our backyard,
and drink
fresh rose tea in stone mugs
warming our hands, and
melting our hearts.
above all, I want to love you
and to be loved by you
until the last moon
wanes.
in a garden of moonflowers
my legs wrapt about your frame
like vines of ivy bent about an old home
tired and frail.
I see the strength in us, a bond
everlasting,
